BOUCHERWITE

Wonderfully extravagant in color and timeless in design the Boucherwite carpet is creative and delightfully irresistible. Scraps of old clothes are given new life as they become part of an infinite fantasy.  From the Arabic bu cherwit, meaning “a piece torn from used clothing”, Boucherwite carpets resulted from changing times, as the nomadic herding traditions were slowly replaced by more modern industries. As a result, the supply of wood decreased and artisans in the Central Atlas mountain adapted by using recycled clothing as the primary material - a practice that eventually became an accepted style in of itself, now replicated throughout the entire Atlas Mountain tribal region.
